Sign holding is perhaps one of the oldest forms of advertising, dating back to medieval times, and couldbe found all over the world.
That is, until Max Durovic, and a group of friends from Ocean Beach, CA got jobs as sign holders back in 1999.
The team began to develop tricks using their giant signs; spinning them around and flipping them high into the air. They began to compete to see who could do the best tricks; all the while attracting more attention to themselves.
While on Spring Break his freshman year at Georgetown University, Max Durovic decided to quit his job as a human directional and found AArrow Advertising.
The first summer was brutal, and while we didn't have a lot of clients, we did have time to make this SWEET video.
A manager for the Healthy Back Store decided to try a one weekend campaign, and the impact was so immediate that the CEO ordered sign spinners at all stores in Washington DC and San Diego immediately.
For the next four years, AArrow expanded its business in San Diego under the leadership of Mike Kenny, while Max braved the elements in with Mike Patterson in Washington D.C.
The East Coast was enamored with sign spinning, especially after Justin Brown and Jonathan Caso joined the AArrow team and revolutionized the sport.
Max and Mike decided to expand AArrow to nearby Los Angeles and Las Vegas
As AArrow grew, companies such as Quizno's, Wells Fargo, & KB Homes began to use sign spinners as well, providing an opportunity for more growth.
CEO Max Durovic and COO Mike Kenny were nominated by Business Week as two of the top 25 young entrepreneurs of the year in 2007.
The trend continued and by 2007 AArrow had operations in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Washington D.C., Miami, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Raleigh.
As part of her outdoor episode, Ellen had AArrow Sign Spinners announce the guests on the show, and help the audience find some surprises she had in store for them.

AArrow invited the Today Show to practice in order to see how we train the best sign spinners in the world.
In the spring of 2008, AArrow began to execute campaigns in Europe starting with a tour across England, France, Spain and the Netherlands.
Teddy Hale defeated his long time rival and best friend at the 2009 WSSC held in Phoenix as part of NBA All-Star Weekend.
AArrow quickly opens franchises in Phoenix, Washington DC, Miami, Baltimore and Virginia Beach, Orlando, Little Rock, Denver & San Antonio while driving a BIG RED BUS.
AArrow also open its first spin-ternational franchise in Seoul, Korea.
Ford chose to use 48 AArrow Sign Spinners to create a national commercial for the Ford Fiesta. This one aired on prime time television, during the NBA Playoffs, and on most major networks.
Spinners from Phoenix and Los Angeles starred in this McDonald's commercial that aired all summer long.
