If you slept on Season 3, Episode 9 of Duncanville, stop what you’re doing and pull it up on Hulu right now. In this one, Duncan — voiced by Amy Poehler —is stuck out front of his dad’s guitar shop doing the classic sidewalk sign-spinning hustle when a total pro rolls up — Mr. Mitch, voiced by Wiz Khalifa — and asks what exactly Duncan thinks he’s doing.
What follows is a genuinely impressive (and genuinely hilarious) mini tutorial: Mr. Mitch borrows the sign and goes full showman, flipping inverted, dropping into a handstand, and catching the sign between his legs like it’s nothing.
He explains how he got hooked on “the Honk” — the horn-honks-as-applause payoff every sign spinner lives for, which, fun fact, is a real thing sign spinners actually chase in real life. Duncan is instantly obsessed, practically begging for “that sweet sound,” and of course flops hard trying to copy the tricks.
But Mr. Mitch drops the line that ties the whole episode together — “Spin the sign, don’t let the sign spin you” — and once Duncan actually listens, he starts earning honks of his own.
