Aarrow AdvertisingIt was a beautiful morning to be outside Friday, but Jacob East was doing a bit more than just enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.

East was “spinning” on behalf of theColumbus Blue Jackets as the team prepared for its home opener at Nationwide Arena Friday evening. East works for AArrow Advertising, a San Diego-based marketing firm that specializes in attention-grabbing sign-spinners.

East was working a three-hour shift Friday morning at the corner of Neil and Goodale avenues. He said the pay for a spinner is $10 to $12 an hour, and you’re required to supply your own music and headphones. You get to be a spinner, he said, after training from a “spinstructor.”

We’ll see Friday night how well East and the Blue Jackets did at generating interest in the home opener. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
