FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Students interested in becoming entrepreneurs got some important advice from a young business owner who’s making his mark.
With the recent downturn in the economy, an increasing number of students are curious about what it takes to become an entrepreneur.
“Many people have ideas on businesses and they don’t know where to go from there,” Ben Andersen of the FCC Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization said.
Max Durovic started Aarrow Advertising, a San Diego-based company, known for its sign spinners.
“It was the best decision that I ever made in my life. Not only did I own my time and my energy, it also helped me focus my career as well,” Durovic said.
Durovic shares three important lessons with anyone that wants to be their own boss. The first is to jump and the second is to aim high.
“And the last one is never quit. You want to really fail as much as you can as fast as you can because failure is a necessary step on the road to success,” Durovic said.
With 2,000 employees in 30 cities in the U.S. and 7 other countries, this sign spinner has taken his business a long way. Students say messages like this show them anything is possible.
“We want to excite them and we want to inspire them and motivate them to take their lives into their own hands and their economic prowess into their own hands,” Anderson said.
This is the fourth time the collegiate entrepreneurs’ organization here at Fresno City College has hosted the extreme entrepreneurship tour. Leaders say with many more students interested in creating their own businesses they plan to host many more events in the future.
